Morning Modelbuch (1/22/2019)
Since we looked at an apron in the Cooper Hewitt that wasnt 17th century yesterday, I thought looking at an actual 17th century apron in their collection would be a nice segue. Interestingly, while the catalog entry on the apron mentions the pattern books, this is actually a pattern I haven’t been able to find exactly. Which is rather bizarre as it is a pretty basic seeming pattern and there are so very, very many variations of the basic geometric patterns. It’s probably there and I’ve looked at it 5 times and just didn’t register it for some reason. If anyone has seen it, point it out, would you?
In lieu of the actual pattern, I am pointing you to a couple of interesting patterns in Latomus that feature concentric ovals as the apron does. I adore the pomegranate square especially. https://collection.cooperhewitt.org/objects/18391423/
