I’ve talked a bit about Lotz #53 and 54 (dated 1619) by Jakob Honervogt in the past. I’m back to researching them and the strangeness of them being included on the Lotz list as they are more jewelry designs than textile designs. While I’m musing on the subject again, I figured I’d share some of the charming animal designs for jewels. I actually have a rather large Pinterest board of extant examples of these styles of jewels. It’s one of my favorite looks, especially the ones with bodies made of baroque pearls. Here’s hoping one day it will cycle back into modern fashion.
