The 9th day of Christmas starts all the music themed gifts. I am starting a new project (a handkerchief) using a simple edging and rose medallion from Jean-Baptiste de Glen’s 1597 _Du Debvoir des Filles_ from a page full of instruments patterns, so that’s my tenuous reason for today’s post.

Helen Hough edited a beautiful compliation and comparison of the plates from various versions of de Glen held by different museums. Most of the plates have not previously been accessible. I know I thought many were just exact copies of Vinciolo and Vecellio. There are definitely differences, however. She put it out for Christmas over on Archive for free. If you haven’t already had a look, don’t miss it. https://archive.org/details/deGlen1597/page/n2
