The pattern looks to be one from Peter Quentel _Ein New Kunstlich Modelbuch_ published 1544 but with the edges softened from a star to an eight petal flower. The four spots in the center, spits on the edges and the double framed diamonds made of more dots match up nicely. There are certainly plenty of examples of both the flowers and stars in Quentel as well. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/354658
