Morning Modelbuch (9/22/2018)
Yes, I am still in full garden design mode. And there just so happens to be a couple of modelbucher that can help with that.
The court embroiderer (Pierre Vallet) and the royal gardener (Jean Robin,) of Henry III of France got together and published a really interesting pattern book in 1608, _Le Jardin du Roi_. The style was shifting to more naturalistic flowers and Vallet was interested in botany so the plates are very like botanical prints. While they were published in monochrome, detailed descriptions of color are included in the front of the book. There are also some bees and butterflies included as well. https://archive.org/details/mobot31753003039788
