The curled design of this early 17th century bobbin lace from Venice held in the Cleveland Museum of Art is interesting. I’m not surprised that it was originally from the Ida Schiff collection. It doesn’t have the bilateral symmetry we expect to see and somehow that makes it seem like it has more motion, particularly in the points, where it is more directional without the horizontal mirroring. https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1920.1205 There’s a similar basic pattern with the same asymmetry in Isabella Catanea Parasole’s “Specchio delle virtuose donne” https://archive.org/details/parasole1596specchiobnfbtv1b10548026j/Parasole1596SpecchioBNFbtv1b10548026j
