Morning Modelbuch (12/14/2019)

This 17th century painting by an unknown painter at the Musee Ingres is packed full of things to look at. There’s the gorgeous dressing cape, her smock, and a tablecloth all adorned with lace. I’m featuring it, because the Musee opens today after a 2 year closure for renovations. Last I checked, the website was still down but there are photos available at Wikipedia. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Woman_at_her_toilet.jpg https://www.pop.culture.gouv.fr/notice/joconde/06070000339 Info on the renovation: https://musees-occitanie.fr/musees/musee-ingres/autres-evenements/le-musee-ingres-bourdelle-renove-reouvre-au-public-le-14-decembre-20190912/ https://kansei.fr/video/metamorphose-musee-ingres-a-montauban/

Patterns from Federico Vinciolo’s _Les Excellents eschantillons_. Originally published in 1587, there were at least 14 editions put out by Jean le Clerc, plus additional editions by other publishers. This is the 1623 version at the BNF. https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10537224r
