Morning Modelbuch (12/6/2019)
I know vase and fountain patterns show up a lot, but they aren’t really something I gravitate towards. I just dont find them as exciting as mermaids and the other figural/pictorial patterns. They really are lovely though. This piece, donated to the Cooper Hewitt by Marian Hague, is both an example of the vase pattern and has a particular charm in how it has been simplified into large triangles. It is also a good example of needlelace and bobbin lace combined again. Accession Number 1971-50-301. Object ID 18474417.
