Morning Modelbuch (11/17/2019)
This is another one where I want to look at the portrait, so the pattern isn’t a close match. The embroidery in the portrait certainly matches up with a number of extant examples though and there are recharted examples in Lipperheide and Pesel of pieces similar.
Portrait of Livia de Lanchi attributed to Europa Anguissola. Part of the collection at Sforzesco Castle. https://artsandculture.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/asset/portrait-of-livia-de-lanchi-europa-anguissola-attributed-to/WgGMTOESE0XLsA?avm=4
I spend too much time looking at patterns, but I do see some similarities in these patterns from Egenolff (they are also in Gulferrich and Hofer.) While they don’t have the squared off vines, there is the spiked shape under the squares as well as the rings around the vining. Christian Egenolff heirs in 1593.
