Morning Modelbuch (9/28/2019)

Italian or French fan dated 1590-1600. Made of thin layers of vellum cut and sandwiched with silk and mica with carved ivory sticks. Accession number 1976.182 at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. (It is possible that the object is later than dated by the museum, as the materials were more apt to be used in the 18th century, but I am continuing with my convention of following the institution’s dating and description.
