Morning Modelbuch (9/8/2019)

I had to have an emergency retina surgery on Thursday so I’m not seeing very well (but things are healing nicely.) As a result I didn’t get much research done this week. I’m going to share a few different series of 17th century engravings over the next couple of days. These type of images show up pretty commonly in embroidered slips as styles of embroidery expand in the 17th century. This is probably of more interest in relationship to the printing industry, but l will get back to matching up patterns later in the week when I can focus a little better.

These are from _A Book of Insects_ by John Dunstall after Wenceslas Hollar. Museum number 2AA+,a.67.77 https://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details/collection_image_gallery.aspx?assetId=997789001&objectId=3260267&partId=1
