Morning Modelbuch (4/8/2019)
I got a copy of the book produced by the Frick Collections new exhibition _Moroni:the Riches of Renaissance Portraiture_ today. I was flipping through and had to stop at Moroni’s Portrait of Gabriel de la Cueva dated 1560. It is held by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, lent for the exhibition.
The collar has cute little tassels and the rope looking pattern that shows up in several of the books. But it has been elaborated on with extra delicate flourishes. A similar rope pattern from Matteo Pagano’s 1554 _Ornamento delle belle & virtuose donne_ https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/660304
