Morning Modelbuch (4/2/2019)

We haven’t looked at one of Marian Hague’s mounts in The Met in awhile. This piece of bobbin lace done in two colors, gold and green, is beautiful. The pattern on the mount is in Parasole’s 1610 _Fiori D’Ogni Virtu_ https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/661779

I’m going to show my ignorance of bobbin lace by pointing out that I had to look up what Merletti a Piombini meant. “Laces made with lead weights? is so evocative. I was familiar with bone lace being a term, due to bobbins being made from bone. I wasn’t aware they were ever metal weights. I have so very much to learn.
