This pattern in Antoine Belin’s book from 1545 , _S’ensuyvent les patrons demessire Antoine Belin_, made me happy because I’ve been trying to find the pattern for Isabella d’Este’s partlet in Titian’s portrait, but hadn’t located the correct center. I didn’t think she so much would be using the patterns, but she was such a fashion trendsetter it surprised me that others wouldn’t be taking the patterns from her. This one shows 3 different options for the lozenge center and then has the Bowen knot in the rest.
