Since Holly reminded me and emblems were often used as embroidery patterns, I thought I’d share Isotta Brembati’s. It’s the dragon Ladon guarding the golden apples of the Hesperides (you know, the ones Herakles stole as his 11th labor.) It was published in 1565 in Le Imprese Illustri by Girolamo Ruscelli. The text (in Spanish) translates to “I will guard them better.” https://archive.org/details/leimpreseillustr00rusc/page/n9
