This incredible marble funerary sculpture of Marguerite de Mandelot is a current fascination. Held at The Museum of Art and Archeology of the Pays de Leon in France, it was sculpted by Mathieu Jacquet. Full length, the lace and dress details are spectacular!

The lace motifs are very much in line with those in the most popular and frequently reprinted of the lace books, Vecellio’s _Corona delle nobili et virtuose donne libro primo_. This page is from the BNF’s copy of the 1592 publication.
