I just had one of those purchases where I sat with my fingers crossed the whole time waiting for it to arrive. I found a seller with the Quaritch 1884 reprints of Parasole and Pagano for $5 for one and $6 for the other. With shipping the two books came to less than $20. They weren’t listed by title, but instead under the name of the series and Parasole was spelled as Paradole. As other listings for these books are running anywhere from $100-600 (I would have bought it for $100 with my Christmas money and been thrilled) I wasn’t expecting them to actually be the right books.

They just arrived. They’re obviously 140 year old books that were intended to be used rather than collected and the covers and binding aren’t in great shape, but the pages are great. The scanned print on demand versions of these cost more than what I got the actual copies for. I’m thrilled to add them to my collection of 19th and 20th century reprints of the pattern books.
