Morning Modelbuch (10/6/2020)
Portrait of a Lady with a Lute. Dated around 1530. The traditional attribution is to Francesco Ubertini, known as Bachiacca, but the attribution is questionable. It is a gorgeous portrait with some lovely details, no matter the artist. I especially like the green partlet and what appears to be either two under layers or an additional insert. The embroidery is sweet and simple but eyecatching. https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2009/old-master-paintings-xix-century-paintings-furniture-ceramics-and-works-of-art-and-books-mi0299/lot.17.html
Patterns from Christian Egenolff’s 1527_Modelbuch aller art nehewercks und vnd stickens_. The link is to the 1880 facsimile. I think I like these patterns so much because I feel like I could possibly have doodled something similar. http://digital.slub-dresden.de/id446680745
