Chickens! The poultry on this towel are sweet. I expect to see peacocks and eagles, but chickens worked in lace always surprise me for some reason. They shouldn’t. There are plenty of lace patterns that feature them. I guess I just always associate chickens with the “country kitchen” style that was popular in the 1980’s. 16th/17th century towel at the Cooper Hewitt, a bequest of Marian Hague.
