There are several books I don’t use as often because they are compilations of patterns found in other sources. They do make nice reference when you want a little of one style and little of another. This one has some nice moresque ornament taken from Paganino, some blackwork, and several borders. _Patrons pour brodeurs, lingieres, massons, verriers & autres gens d’esprit_ by Jean Ruelle (Lotz lists the author as Iehan Ruelle, dated 1554, book #88.) http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b8613385w/f1.image
I’m looking at the little wave patterns and one of the octagons with a knot or star to kit up for some children to do on handkerchiefs or pincushions as a beginning project and easy introduction to how easy historical patterns are to use.
