For the Sixth Day of Christmas I’m sharing a much later textile than usual. I got to see this one in person (and they’re my photos) when I delivered a paper as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection at the University of Wisconsin-Madison earlier this month. German Sampler, dated between 1800-1829, # E.A.E.0267.
My favorite design on it reminds me of several patterns, particularly those in Dominique de Sera’s _Le livre de lingerie, compose par maistre Dominique de Sera_ dated 1584 and some in Egenolff.
