Morning Modelbuch (11/6/2019)
Lovely portrait by Bartolomeo Veneto from the 1520’s. I like the pattern, but the reason I first took note of it was the lacing rings at the neck of the smock for ties. There are several versions of the painting. Version listed as Portrait of a Woman (possibly Cecilia Gallerani) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Accession number BF.1984.26. https://www.mfah.org/art/detail/20447
Version listed as Portrait of a Lady as Mary Magdalen at the Brooklyn Museum, accession number 21.79. https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/opencollection/objects/4385
Pattern from _Ornamento delle belle & virtuose donne_ by Matteo Pagano, dated 1554. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/660218
