Morning Modelbuch (10/31/2019)

16th or 17th century pillow cover, accession number 13.156.6 in the Met. I’m not sure which view of this piece is the positive and which is the negative. Depending on which way it is viewed, the thinner bands are either acorns or sort of a leaf/geometric pattern. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/120037235

As I’ve linked acorns before, I thought I would mix it up a little and use patterns I don’t link often. There are several of that type of broken geometric motif in _Il Spechio di pensieri delle belle et Virtudiose donne_ originally published in 1544 by Matteo Pagano. I also think they work nicely for weaving and as most of the weaving patterns show up earlier, I thought they were worth a look. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/354982
