Morning Modelbuch (9/20/2019)

There aren’t all that many examples of fish in the pattern books that aren’t either dolphins or some kind of fish tailed hybrid. I tend to think that this coif was probably more likely to have been inspired by an emblem book or one of the scientific collections like Gessner. Or even possibly the older Arabic textiles that inspired many of the blackwork patterns. The crescents are certainly interesting.

Nonetheless, there are a couple of fish in Tagliente so I’ve linked that book so I can feature the fish coif.
