Morning Modelbuch (9/19/2019)
Wow! is pretty much all I can say about Magdalena Sybellia of Saxony’s dress from her 1607 wedding. It’s part of a permanent exhibition at the Dresden Residenzschloss with almost 30 other pieces of clothing dated between 1550-1650 that opened in 2016. Its on my list to visit once my kids are a little older and I can convince my husband to take some longer trips. https://ruestkammer.skd.museum/ausstellungen/archiv/schaetze-einer-fuerstenehe/ Updated link 2021: https://ruestkammer.skd.museum/en/exhibitions/treasures-of-a-princely-marriage/ The fish scale pattern on the sleeves is relatively simple but worked in gold it is fantastic. Pattern from the 1544 version of Peter Quentel’s _Ein new kunstlich Modelbuch_ https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/681403
