Morning Modelbuch (8/22/2019)
Late 16th century/ early 17th century blackwork fragment done with silk on linen at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. Accession number 51.258. I wish I had some idea of what the intended use for this was. Any ideas? https://collections.mfa.org/objects/65915
The little frog sort of thing is wonderful and the moth looks straight out of Shorleyker’s 1632 Schole-house for the Needle. The image I’ve included is from Margeret Jourdain’s 1912 _The History of English Secular Embroidery_ https://archive.org/details/historyofenglish00jourrich/page/n12
