Morning Modelbuch (8/5/2019)
I’m still in heraldic headspace since textiles are such a great place to display badges. Spain didn’t publish any pattern books despite the extensive embroidery culture, but they did import the books. There is a nice discussion of the similarities and differences of the specifically Spanish heraldry versus design in the pattern books regarding the woven bands in this Perugia style at the V and A http://m.vam.ac.uk/collections/item/O119345/napkin-unknown/
A similar woven textile is in the Cooper Hewitt https://collection.cooperhewitt.org/objects/18474961/
There is also a beautiful example of the same elements in embroidery on the shift in a Portrait of Isabella I by Juan de Flandes. The portrait is dated close to 1500, so the design would most likely have come to the books from previous use. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Juan_de_Flandes_-_Isabel_la_Catlica_(Palacio_Real,_Madrid,_1500-04._leo_sobre_tabla,_63_x_55_cm).jpg#mw-jump-to-license
The lion is very similar to some in Jobin and one Latomus’ _Schon Neues Modelbuch_ https://archive.org/details/MAB31962000742191Images/page/n122
