Morning Modelbuch (7/30/2019) I don’t reference the first of the Italian books on the Lotz list enough. Tagliente (Lotz 64) has a wide variety of plates with alphabets, engravings that seem like they would make good book borders and references for goldsmiths and jewelry designers as well as arabesques and the geometric patterns that make good weaving drafts. There is a bit of everything as well as one of the few how-to explanations with instructions on how to transfer the patterns for embroidery. _Essempio di recammi_, originally published in 1527 by Giovanni Antonio Tagliente. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/357722
One of the patterns reminded me of the sash in this early 16th century engraving of a woman by Jacopo de’ Barbari. http://www.clevelandart.org/art/1932.38
I’ve included a couple of extra pages of patterns just for fun.
