The super fine detail of the designs in Danieli are just gorgeous. I don’t know if the shift to copper intaglio engraved plates played a part in the increasing delicacy of the lace, or just helped document it as the fashion of the 17th century advanced into more intricate and floral designs. Design was certainly already advancing in that direction. Investigating that interaction would certainly be an interesting adventure.
