Morning Modelbuch (6/28/2019)
Woven linen piece, 16th century Italian. (Yes, it is another Marian Hague mount.) I find it fascinating because it is a bit later than most of the other patterns we associate with weaving drafts and I would tend to imagine this as lacis. Seeing a similar pattern woven reminds me that the patterns really can be used for a variety of mediums, techniques, and styles. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/120044105
The pattern is one seen in Zoppino and de Sera, but (as I don’t link to it very often) I thought I would use the image from Antoine Belin’s 1545 _S’ensuyvent les patrons de messire Antoine Belin_ http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b8622055p
