Morning Modelbuch (6/25/2019)

Not a particularly close match, but I wanted to show the thin line florals that start to be used in the late 16th century as it transitions into the 17th century. Pattern is from the 1891 Wasmuth republication of Wilhelm Hoffman’s 1607 _Gantz new Modelbuch kunstlicher vnd lustiger Visirung_ (Lotz 48.)

The portrait is an unknown English gentleman by an unknown painter from the English School dated around 1590. It is privately owned, sold by Philip Mould.
