Morning Modelbuch (6/9/2019)
Looking at the fabric in this painting by Jacopo Zucchi, Portrait of a Young Lady dated around 1575, we can see the shift in popular motifs in the late part of the century with smaller, more floral decoration. http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2017/master-paintings-and-sculpture-day-sale-n09813/lot.151.html
Furst is one of the last modelbucher, and there are quite a few allover pattern that would be suitable weaving patterns a, making it more similar to the early books back in the 1520’s in format as opposed to many of the lace books. I’ve included a few different pages with similar flourishes.
Model Buch : T.1-4 published by Paulus Furst, engraved by his daughter Rosina Furst. The first book came out in 1660 with the other 3 books published in 1666 and 1676 (Lotz 59-62.) https://archive.org/details/modelbucht1400frst
