Morning Modelbuch (5/29/2019)

I really enjoy looking at works in progress and getting to see how the lace was created. This 16th century Italian piece is fascinating. I especially love the curving bars crossing over the large grid pattern that add so much texture and dimensionality.

It has the basic shape of the tagliete patterns found in Matteo Pagano done in reticella. Similar patterns show up in Isabella Catanea Parasole’s 1600 _Pretiosa Gemma delle virtuose donne_ https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/355098
