Morning Modelbuch (5/27/2019)
I tend to zero in on the body linens in portraits because they are most apt to be where the published patterns are used, but the same motifs show up in trims. The black on black pattern in the coat is really nice. Portrait of Ranuccio Farnese by Francesco Salviati. Dated 1542, it is owned by the Bode-Museum in Berlin.
The heart is similar to one we see over and over published in Schonesperger and Quentel. I also included one published a little later, in the same period as the portrait, from _Patrons de diverses manieres inventez _ by Jean Troveon published in 1545
