Morning Modelbuch (5/11/2019)
17th Century Italian embroidery. Accession number 06.351 in the MFA https://www.mfa.org/collections/object/download/84114
I really like how this piece is reminiscent of the patterns in the earliest books, but has been refined a bit, smoothed out and color added to make it more a 17th century style. You can see the roots of the design in Peter Quentel. The link is to the 1544 version of _Ein New Modelbuch_. I included an acorn and oak leaf and a couple of the vine over a center line style. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/681306
