Morning Modelbuch (4/14/2019)
There is a pattern with a ribbon scrolling around a vine with text that appears in several of the published books. I talked about it back In June of 2018 if you would like to see some net and drawnwork examples check out the old post. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=240984653237956&id=213910152612073
This is the same pattern adapted as a 16th century tapestry woven belt. Rather than repeating a single word on the scroll, an entire love poem is presented on the textile. The loose English translation as given by the Met is
“I will burn even as a phoenix With the fire of your kisses, And I will die. Life will return with The breath of your sighs. Even as the net woven With the cords of love, Do you tie me to your heart As long as you will be faithful to me.”
There is also a phoenix woven on each end of the belt to match the poem.
