Morning Modelbuch (4/11/2019)
The collar in this portrait of Don Garzia de Medici as a baby from around 1565 by Agnolo Bronzino (museum number 00291073 in the Uffizi) has me wondering if it is colored silk worked on net or something completely different. http://catalogo.uffizi.it/it/29/ricerca/detailiccd/1504610/ There are certainly plenty of floral flourishes in the patterns presented on what could be net that would work to create something like this. A couple of examples appear in Nicolo Zoppino’s 1532 _Convivio delle Belle Donne_ https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/347839
