Morning Modelbuch (3/23/2019)
This is another one where I mostly just want to look at the portrait, so I’m sharing a pattern that isn’t that close of a match. The painting is Portrait of a Lady by Jacopo Zucchi dated from the 1560’s held at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. http://collection.imamuseum.org/artwork/72277/
The embroidery designs have the same sensibilities as those in _Splendore delle virtuose giovani_ from 1564. Designed by Iseppo Foresto and published by Geronimo Calepino. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/349915
And just for fun, here’s a video the museum shared of the cleaning of varnish from the portrait as part of its restoration. https://youtu.be/VfFaEa9LMi0
