Morning Modelbuch (3/17/2019)

It is no secret that I’m obsessed with Isabella Catanea Parasole. My husband deals with my tendency to talk (and talk, and talk, and talk) about pattern books by being supportive, interested, and being a great sounding board for my ideas. To further prove his general amazingness, he bought me this gorgeous scarf based on a print from _Studio della Virtuose Donne_. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/355099 The scarf is on clearance in the Met’s shop if you too need one. (No, I have no affiliation, I just adore their lace collection.)

Interestingly enough, lace patterns on fabric was happening at the same time the laces were in their heyday. Marian Hague featured a 17th century Spanish silk in her article “Comparisons in Lace Design” for The Bulletin of the Needle and Bobbin Club, Vol. 29 (1945) . The article is available for download at the On-Line Digital Archive of Documents on Weaving and Related Topics. (If anyone happens to find the fabric, point me in that direction, please?) https://www2.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/articles165.html
