Morning Modelbuch (1/14/2019)

I’m interested in the mix of pattern inspirations and how particular styles have particular trends of use. The moresque style ornament seems to turn up a lot in heavy Italian trim; often with metal threads and jewelwork. It echoes metalwork. This pattern is from Flotner’s 1546 _Das Kunstbuch_ and I see a lot of similarities to a trim on Bronzino’s Portrait of Maria de Medici painted around 1551.
