A comment about how many of the pattern blocks turn up over and over again reminded me about Dr. Natalie Lussey’s recent work on the cooperative state of the Venetian printing industry. Specifically the small workshop of Vavassore. I’m intrigued by the focus on networking, sharing of information, collaboration and cooperation that was central to the printers in Venice. And to make up for the somewhat heavy reading, the pattern is just light and fun. I doubt I’ll ever find this particular pattern worked up, but I find the Italian couple so charming. Especially the heart with the arrow through it that she’s holding. “Staying Afloat: The Vavassore Workshop and the Role of the Minor Publisher in Sixteenth Century Venice” https://edoc.hu-berlin.de/handle/18452/18716 “Giovanni Andrea Vavassore and the business of print in Early Modern Venice” https://www.era.lib.ed.ac.uk/handle/1842/31022 And the modelbuch _Esemplario di Lauri_ from 1532 https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/358317
