Morning Modelbuch (11/22/2018)
As I really love seeing patterns transformed rather than used as expected, I was charmed by this border at the Met. An Italian piece done in polychrome silk on a solid background with vines and tiny animals tucked into the foliage https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/222989 it matches up with a series of them designed for lacis from_La Pratique de l’Aiguille_ Matthias Mignerak 1605 https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/354009 Squirrels, and birds, butterflies, damselflies, and even a lizard are fun to search for.
I know I’ve seen a similar piece in color photographs, but I’m not turning it up. Hopefully I’ll add it later.
