Morning Modelbuch (8/4/2018)

I always like when I find new books, but this one was especially interesting because of the last name. Hans Hoffman published a Modelbuch in 1556 (Lotz 22) and I’ve seen that one. I hadn’t seen the Hoffman books that are Lotz numbers 42, 48, and 49 until recently. I just sort of assumed they were reconfigured versions of the first one or republications by his heirs. Big, big NOPE.

The later books were published by Wilhelm Hoffman, not Hans Hoffman. And they are definitely products of the years published in 1604, 1607, and 1610. They have florals grotesques and a baroque feel.
