Morning Modelbuch (10/6/2018)

This towel/napkin is interesting because the woven decorative band isn’t integral to the body of the linen but is seamed and inserted. I also like the blanket stitch on the edges. Primarily because it’s a finish I like that doesn’t have much historical support, so it’s nice to see it. The towel or coverpane is Italian http://m.vam.ac.uk/item/O119345/napkin-unknown/ as is the pattern book Vavassore’s https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/358317 _Esemplario Di Lavori_ from 1532. As the museum text points out, the castles don’t really appear in any of the modelbuch, and it certainly isn’t an exact match. Makes a nice starting point for embroidering, pattern darning, or weaving your own version though.
