Related to yesterday’s Stent engravings is the 1592 printing of _Archetypa studiaque Patris Georgio Hoefnagelii_.

Joris Hoefnagel was an illuminator whose work I have often drooled over, especially his illumination of _Mira calligraphiae monumenta_. His son Jacob did a series of engravings taken from his father’s work and painted pattern book. The book became highly influential to both painters and embroiderers.
