Morning Modelbuch (9/23/2018)
I mentioned this book before in relation to stained glass and patchwork, but it’s use for “gardiners” is also in the title. Knot gardens and other formal beds were part of 16th century design. I don’t think I’ll be going quite that crazy, but the book has so great designs that would be lovely worked up in stone pavers for the paths or decoratively used on the side of raised beds or fencing to add a bit of flavor to my medieval/modern mash-up.
1615 Walter Gidde _ A booke of sundry draughtes principaly serving for glasiers: and not impertinent for plasters, and gardiners : besides sundry other professions. Whereunto is annexed the manner how to anniel in glas: and also the true forme of the fornace, and the secretes thereof.
