I’m utterly charmed by this 16th century Italian embroidered net border. Unicorn, dragon, and griffin following one after another. Similar patterns appear in several books including Bernhard Jobin’s _Newkuenstlichs Modelbuch von allerhand artlichen und gerechten Moedeln auff der Laden zuwircken oder mit der Zopffnot Creutz und Judenstich und anderer gewonlicher weisz zumachen_ Link is to the 1586 copy.
