Morning Modelbuch (8/12/2018)

Where I wish that I was half as cool as Louisa F. Pesel. She was the first president of the Embroiderer’s Guild of England in 1920 and Mistress of Broderers of Winchester Cathedral in 1938. Her collection is held at the University of Leeds.

The thing I’m mostly interested in is her book _Historical Designs for Embroidery_ with designs drawn from samplers held in the V and A and some private collections. It was originally several smaller booklet type publications now collected together. She’s includes some of the slip designs from Schole-house for the Needle as well. (Photos of my copy don’t show well, so these were dug up on Pinterest.) http://www.worldcat.org/title/louisa-f-pesels-historical-designs-for-embroidery-linen-and-cross-stitch/oclc/7360496

Her collection of needlework both created and is collected at the link below. Several of her books are also on Archive.
