The patterns in this one are fun, with loads of mermaids, tritons, wyverns and such, but I think I like it primarily because of the style of the carving of the woodcuts. They’re not detailed and are often more than slightly wonky. They’re approachable to me and I can come close to carving something like this with my level of carving expertise. Charming and fun, and achievable. One of these days I’m sure a bunch of these will get turned into woodblocks for printing trim. Here’s the link to this individual page. The whole book is available from the Kunstbibliothek but individually catalogued. I have a link to my Pinterest board with all of the pages in the big Modelbuch list on my blog.
